The Medina County Sports Hall of Fame Selection Committee is responsible for choosing Hall of Fame inductees, special award recipients, and other annual honorees. The committee also oversees the Hall of Fame Wall in the Medina Community Recreation Center and provides guidance for the Hall of Fame website and Facebook page.

Each year, the committee recognizes outstanding athletes, coaches, teams, and supporters who have made significant contributions to athletics in Medina County. Honorees include Hall of Fame inductees, an Outstanding Team, two Special Olympians, the Kiwanis Joe Tait Legacy Award recipient, and the Al Thomas Award recipient.

The Kiwanis Joe Tait Legacy Award honors a community or school coach who has made a meaningful difference in the lives of athletes. The Al Thomas Award recognizes individuals whose dedication and support have strengthened athletics throughout Medina County.

Committee Structure

The Medina County Sports Hall of Fame is governed by a Selection Committee composed of representatives from the Medina Breakfast Kiwanis Club, The Gazette, Medina County high school athletic directors, and past Hall of Fame inductees.

The committee is chaired by a representative of the Medina Breakfast Kiwanis Club, with The Gazette Sports Editor serving as Vice Chair. Past inductee representatives serve three-year terms and may be reappointed by the committee.

​

Nominations are accepted from community members and committee members throughout the year. The committee meets annually in April to review nominations and select Hall of Fame inductees, award recipients, and any additional special recognitions deemed appropriate.
